Forwarding to a supplier

When a repair goes to a linked or external supplier, and why sharing is a handshake.

Forward-onlyHybrid

Sharing a repair with a supplier is a handshake, not a shipment. The product stays with you (or the customer) until the supplier acknowledges the repair and sends back a waybill or collection instructions. Only then does the unit physically move.

Two kinds of supplier

You set both up under Partners:

  • Linked Suppliers — they invite you. These are suppliers already on RepairStep. They invite you to connect — no contact details to enter. Every repair you send shows up on their side instantly, and their stage/progress updates flow back to you automatically.
  • External Suppliers — you add them. Suppliers that aren't on RepairStep. You add them with their name, contact details, and return process. Once added, you can send them the repair pack — a link they follow to see everything about the repair.

Save how you work with each supplier

Record each supplier's contact details and return process once — who to email and how to send the product back — and every time a product comes in for repair, you know exactly how to forward it.

The supplier portal (external only)

For external suppliers, the share email contains a magic-link to a single-repair portal. They review the details, acknowledge, and reply — the audit trail (first notified, first viewed, acknowledged) is preserved if you ever need to regenerate the link.

What the customer sees

Customers see "Forwarded to supplier" on their tracking page without needing to know whether the supplier is linked or off-platform. The store remains the customer's point of contact throughout.
